The Barns is a contemporary art initiative that highlights art and artists in dialogue with food, farming, ecology, and sustainability. The Barns, built adjacent the former IBM campus in East Fishkill, NY, sits within a compound that’s home to a forthcoming gourmet food hall, a brewery, a bakery, and various local producers and manufacturers. The art center is comprised of a 3,200 square foot gallery, with plans to add a multi-use education space, and numerous artist studios.
The Barns is located off Interstate 84, just 60 miles north of New York City, and is within minutes of several other contemporary art programs including Dia:Beacon, Storm King Art Center, Manitoga / The Russel Wright Design Center, and Magazzino Italian Art.

MISSION
Create community through art.
The Barns Art Center strives to create community, catalyze creative expression, and ignite cultural conversation through its exhibition, education, and empowerment programs. The Barns supports a multidisciplinary and dynamic approach to the creation and presentation of art. We are committed to fostering an accessible, interactive, and inclusive environment.
Aligning with the region’s rich agricultural tradition and history of environmental stewardship, The Barns champions art that reflects on food, farming, ecology, and sustainability. Stimulating essential dialogue around innovation, conservation, and equity, we hope to cultivate new ways of thinking about the earth and our relationship to it.
